May 26.  It's not the big things that strike you when you are in a different country.  It's things like getting confused by the washer and dryer

So many Choices!  Cupboard Dry?  Iron Dry (that's not gonna happen...)

~

Or menu choices - finding out that "Creamed Champs" is mashed potatoes and gravy, not greens in a cream sauce.

Or forgetting UK shoes sizes are different and now my slippers fall off

This Country Mouse took the bus to Newtownards this week.  I admit I was a little nervous with making sure of time tables and bus exchanges.  But the bus drivers are so kind and helpful it was fun.  And the bus coming home was a double decker so I sat on top at the front and enjoyed the ride seeing the country side - and swore I will stick to the Small Country Roads on my bike!  (which should be here in a couple of weeks)

There is a bus stop at each end of my street.  This is a sign from the old days.  The picture below is from my bus home. Definitely no room for Erin and her bike!

And yes, if you look you'll see a windmill in the distance.

And my latest example of Settling In to Donaghadee - I got Mail!!

And it's not a bill.  I joined the local grocery co-op and my card arrived. and it came through the mail slot on my door!  Having driven to Whitney for 42 years to get my mail, this is pure novelty and delight.

That pretty much sums up Week 2.  I don't have pictures of my language lessons.  This area of Ireland has its own dialect known as Ulster Scots, as people have settled here from Scotland for the last 600 years.  So perhaps I shouldn't be surprised that words like Brae and Knock are part of the street signs,  or that I asked a policeman in Newtownards for directions and couldn't understand anything after "Well..."    But oh I love it here!

Delightful! That’s the kind of bus stop sign that would be hard to steal ;-) It’s no wonder it has lasted so long.

Be extremely careful on that bike! No shoulders!!! Don't want you being part of a stone wall.
