This is the top of the wall along the waterfront of Donaghadee.  These walls go back to the 17th century and one repair was to put large sandstone blocks along the top.

Of course you probably know sandstone is soft. Over the years,  the blocks are far from rectangular and the tops are topographical maps complete with elevation lines.
